About

Furbituary is a place to write an obituary for a pet: their name, the years they were here, a few photos, and the story of who they were, in your own words.

When a pet dies, the grief is real, but there is rarely a place to say so. People write long captions, send group texts, or say nothing at all. We built Furbituary so there is one kind, permanent page you can share with everyone who loved them.

How it works

  • It is free. A tribute with your story and up to 10 photos costs nothing and stays up.
  • A person reads every tribute. Before anything is published, it is reviewed, usually within 24 hours. Software helps us spot spam and anything unsafe, but a person makes the final call.
  • Your words stay yours. We never write or rewrite a tribute for you. We may suggest questions to help you start, nothing more.
  • You choose who sees it. Public, unlisted (only people with the link) or private.
  • Keepsake is optional. A one-time $39 upgrade adds room for more photos and a video and keeps their page free of ads. It is never required.

Our rules

Tributes must be about a real pet and written by someone who knew them. We decline anything hateful, graphic, or promotional, and we do not publish tributes about people.

If you are struggling

Losing a pet can hurt as much as losing anyone. Free support is available from the Cornell Pet Loss Support Hotline and Lap of Love. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.
